Amy’s Big Character Breakthrough

The last six months have been a roller coaster! I started embarking on a new career here in Chicago! It’s been a pure joy meeting all the members, learning new technology and using my innate gifts to contribute to a better world. I have also been assisting my mother who has moved in to assisted living against her will. As you can imagine, this has be quite challenging. She has the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s and it is because I want her to have the best quality life that she can that I had to make this move happen. It has been both physically and mentally exhausted!

For the last 25 years I have been putting everyone’s oxygen mask on before mine! This has resulted in emotional eating! I am blessed to be an empty-nester with two young adult college students (Amanda just graduated)! My husband graciously gave me the gift of moving to the city, a life-long dream. In addition to purging 95% of our belongings, I moved 60 extra pounds of body weight with me. If you have ever been in this position, you know exactly how I felt. Full of shame but no clear way to move forward.

May 2014 finally came after Chicago’s horrible winter. It was my turn to participate in Lifebook’s live session! I was super excited to get all that special attention. It felt great. But I was not excited to face my key category of focus: Health & Fitness. I have been looking at this (yet failing) for years.

Well, time for the break through: I had a lot of work to do on my character!

Really?? Me?? I pride myself in the thoughts of being highly moral individual (pride is a fault of mine). But the truth was revealed. I have spent years putting others’ needs first. I make excuses to why I can’t participate in a healthier lifestyle due to financial limitations. That was a bunch of b.s.! I certainly have the funds to travel and for fine dining! I was mortified that my character played such a significant role in my health & fitness.

I am pleased to report that as of July 9, I have lost 20 pounds! I chose to seek assistance through a weight loss program called Ideal Protien. This is offered through chiropractors and general practitioners. It is composed mostly of protein and lots of vegetables! Guess what? I still travel but bring some of my food with me. I still go out to nice restaurants with my husband, but am very careful with what I order (no carbs). I am headed in the right direction!

I am eternally grateful for the truth I received by participating in Lifebook.
