The “S” Word

The “S” Word.  We say it all the time.  We feel it far too often.  Sometimes it can seem as though our lives are completely covered in it.

So how can we ensure it doesn’t ‘hit the fan’?

Use these 40 preventative ways to eliminate STRESS from your life, and clean up your act:

  1. Wake up 30 minutes earlier
  2. Prepare for the morning the night before
  3. Wear clothes you know you will be comfortable and confident in
  4. Don’t rely on chemical stimulants to keep you energized
  5. Exercise everyday
  6. Get enough sleep
  7. Don’t rely on your memory – write it down!
  8. Set appointments ahead (and record them on your calendar)
  9. Have spare keys available (and anything else that you need on the go)
  10. Avoid negative people, situations and thoughts
  11. Use your time wisely – it’s what life is made of
  12. Avoid distraction – Try to finish what you start before moving on to something else
  13. Organize your files (physical and digital) so everything is easily accessible when you need it
  14. Say ‘no’ more often
  15. Anticipate needs (yours and others) and plan ahead
  16. Fix broken things (things that you fight with time after time)
  17. Replace old things (makeup, toiletries, supplies, etc.)
  18. Always have a ‘Plan B’
  19. Practice preventative maintenance (implement some of the things on this list today!)
  20. Learn to delegate – Ask for help with the jobs you dislike or won’t get done
  21. Break large tasks into bite size portions
  22. Look at problems as challenges
  23. Look at challenges differently
  24. Declutter your life
  25. Smile, smile, smile
  26. Be prepared for rain and snow
  27. Don’t know all the answers
  28. Always look for the silver lining
  29. Schedule play time into EVERYDAY
  30. Take a bubble bath
  31. Practice breathing slowly and deeply
  32. Quit a bad habit
  33. Practice moderation – Eliminate excessiveness
  34. Stand up and stretch
  35. Learn to fulfill your own needs where you currently are not
  36. Know and honor your limitations
  37. Clean out your car
  38. Remember that stress is an attitude
  39. Remember that you always have a choice
